Cannons in the Clouds: The Strange Sky Battle Seen Over Poland in 1673

On January 17th, 1652, when people were returning from Mass at nine o’clock in the morning, on a clear, sunny day, they could see a very strange scene in the sky. Namely, many clouds in the shape of ships appeared, and near them it seemed as if a very fierce and unusual ship-to-ship battle was taking place between two mighty fleets for three hours.

At Bahus in the Kingdom of Sweden, in April 1672, on a bright day, three army battalions were seen in the sky, along with a fleet of ships and three siege towers nearby.

In the following year, 1673, on October 3rd, in the morning and again the next day, two armed forces were seen in the air over Posen (Poznań) in Greater Poland, moving against each other. At the same time, one could hear the rumble of great cannons thundering terribly, along with a loud clamor of various warlike sounds.

The army that had been positioned toward the east in the morning first gave way and then disappeared. Immediately afterward, a large number of bullets (cannonballs) flew over the city and burst in the air, to the great horror of the people who were watching.

Not only in Poland, but also in the city of Poznań (Posen), and elsewhere, up to fifteen miles away, this sight was observed by many people in fields and on streets.
