Did a UFO land in France in 1606? Historical UFO report

The Strange Sky Army of Anjou: A Mysterious Historical UFO Report from 1606

The Strange Sky Army of Anjou: A Mysterious Historical UFO Report from 1608

Our artistic depiction of the mysterious event involving the heavenly army that allegedly landed in France in 1606

In October 1606, in the French province of Anjou, many small clouds were seen in the sky on a clear day.

These clouds later descended (landed) to the earth, and soldiers emerged from them, forming a mighty army reportedly numbering twelve thousand strong. They were armed with battering rams and siege towers, supplied by blue flags and led by a field marshal. Advancing in an orderly and disciplined formation, they carefully avoided inhabited areas, while the clouds that had brought them quickly dispersed.

When these strange soldiers from nowhere reached a nearby grove, they set up camp and began to feast heartily, consuming large quantities of food and drink.

This wondrous sight of the army from the sky remained visible until five o’clock in the morning, when every one of them vanished.

Our Evaluation of the Alleged UFO Sighting

The 1608 Anjou UFO incident, in which clouds reportedly descended and brought forth a large army of soldiers, is a fascinating account that closely resembles what we now refer to as a UFO landing

The details—such as the soldiers’ organized formation, their armaments, and the presence of a field marshal—are too particular for a purely imaginary event. The fact that the figures avoided inhabited areas and acted with a certain, although unknown, purpose hints at something beyond mere myth.

From an open-minded perspective, one might consider that these “clouds” were some form of unidentified aerial phenomenon—perhaps even a craft or portal—briefly manifesting humanoid figures for reasons unknown. The large number of soldiers (twelve thousand) and their temporary, physical presence—eating, drinking, and camping—suggests a phenomenon that interacted with the physical world, albeit fleetingly.

The report also closely parallels fairy and witch folklore, which often includes stories of mysterious feasts and gatherings, in the spirit of Jacques Vallée.

While we lack more corroborating documents beyond this one eyewitness account from 17th-century France, dismissing the event outright might overlook the possibility of an early example of a UFO-related phenomenon

Ultimately, without more corroborating evidence, the event remains a mystery, one that fascinates due to its inexplicable nature.
