| Dragons and castles in the sky — or just illusions? |
On the last day of June 1558, towards evening, a celestial phenomenon was painted by nature in unnatural colors and enormous proportions, and observed by many trustworthy people against the backdrop of the setting sun.
First, a big castle in the clouds appeared, standing on a high mountain. Next to it, on the right side, more castles soon emerged, along with a heavenly city of indescribable beauty, while immediately above them was spread out a long, flat stripe across the sky.
On top of it, another cloud appeared, like a great red dragon with fiery breath and a threefold tail. The dragon flew to the first castle, completely covering it with its body and wrapping it around with its tail. Thereafter, the dragon continued to the second and third castles, repeating the same until it was seen heading towards the celestial city.
But before it reached the city, on the left side of the first castle, another castle suddenly formed in a light cloud, and stood until the dragon and the city to which the dragon flew had passed from view, and the entire scene disappeared.
Our Evaluation of the Alleged UFO Sighting
Our evaluation of the alleged UFO sighting reported on June 30, 1558, suggests that the event was likely not a literal encounter with flying fortresses and dragons, but rather a natural atmospheric phenomenon—probably unusually shaped clouds illuminated by the setting sun.
The description of a "heavenly city of indescribable beauty" appearing amidst the clouds is especially significant, as it strongly evokes the Heavenly Jerusalem, a divine city representing ultimate salvation.
The appearance of a "great red dragon" attempting to take hold of this celestial city symbolizes chaos, as the red dragon is a well-known biblical metaphor for the Devil.
